Amazing swimming spot near Mount Gambier, South Australia
|
South Australia was one of those states that continued to surprise us with all the goodness it has on offer. From desert to beach, sunken limestone cave gardens and water filled sinkholes it really does have a little bit of everything, and Little Blue Lake is no exception to one of those wonderful surprises.

Little Blue Lake is a water-filled sinkhole that you can swim in! It is roughly a 10 minute drive from Mount Gambier and absolutely worth a visit. The lake reaches almost 50 metres in depth at its deepest point with the water temperature being a very refreshing (f***ing freezing) 12 degrees all year round. The lake has a diameter of almost 50m, and is surrounded by cliffs that are around 8 metres in height, making it feel pretty special when you’re in the water. The council has added steps and a pontoon to access the water easily from those who don’t mind dabbling in a cold water swim.
The location is also used for cave diving, but you’ll need a permit if that is your boogie (it is not mine… yet).

This place is definitely worth a stop on your trip to South Australia!Â
